Hi, Reader!
A little something different from me today!
This isn't my usual newsletter, but with back-to-school season creeping closer, I wanted to share something I've been testing that might make the September dinner scramble a little easier.
We’re still enjoying summer around here, but I can already feel that familiar back-to-school rhythm coming.
More schedules, more activities, more lunches to pack… and dinner needs to happen too 😅
So I recently went back to HelloFresh and cooked four meals in one week to see how it held up. Six years and two school-aged kids later, I was curious to see whether it would still earn a spot in our busy-week rotation.
(Spoiler alert: it did.)
📦 A few favorites from our box...

|
Mediterranean Salmon & Lentils
My favorite of the bunch. One sheet pan, one small pot, and dinner was ready in about 20 minutes.
|
|
|
Chicken Satay Bowls
The kids were very enthusiastic about the peanut sauce. I'll consider that a five-star review.
|
|
|
Honey Mustard Salmon
Sweet, simple, and apparently worthy of a repeat request from Lin.
|
|
|
Mediterranean Turkey Rice
A cozy one-pot dinner with very little cleanup. Always a win on a school night.

What especially caught my attention this time was HelloFresh's focus on quick weeknight meals. Their menu now has 15+ Quick & Easy recipes ready in 20 minutes or less, along with one-pot, one-pan, and sheet-pan dinners.
Basically, the kinds of recipes you want when everyone has somewhere to be and nobody has time for a complicated dinner.
I put all my thoughts from this latest test into a new HelloFresh meal kit review, including what we cooked, what the kids thought, and the things I liked (and didn't like)
And if you're comparing meal kits before the school year starts, I also recently updated my Canada meal kit comparison. I tested HelloFresh alongside Chefs Plate, Cook It, and Goodfood, so you can see how they stack up on everything from recipes and ingredients to price and sustainability.
🎁 A little back-to-school bonus
If you’re thinking about trying HelloFresh, their current offer is pretty generous.
Get up to 20 free meals with the code IMMIPAN. (50% off your 1st box plus free shipping, then discounts across your next 8 deliveries, plus free sides for life)
Order through your third box, and you'll also score a free Cuisinart Preferred Pan Set, while supplies last.
Honestly, a new pan and fewer “what are we having for dinner?” moments sounds like a pretty solid September plan to me 😄
Whether you use a meal kit every week or just bring one in during the particularly chaotic stretches, having dinner figured out ahead of time can be such a relief.
Here's to squeezing a little more calm into the school-year routine ❤️
P.S. If you're curious about the actual HelloFresh meals we tested, start with the review. If you're shopping around and want to compare the major Canadian services, head to the comparison. I've got you covered either way 😉
